ACL SUCCESS PROGRAM

The right combination of strength, balance, and movement mechanics.

Using evidence-based research, the ACL Success Program offered at Olympia Fitness + Performance and Restore Physical Therapy specializes in the rehabilitation of ACL tears from post-operative to return-to-sport.

While reinjury is common, it is also preventable with the right combination of strength, balance, and movement mechanics. Physical therapy is a great start, but generally only lasts for a few months after surgery.

The ACL Success Program is unique because it incorporates the most important piece of rehab: RETURN-TO-SPORT TRAINING. This portion of rehab typically gets left out in a traditional physical therapy setting for many different reasons such as insurance, a lack of space or insufficient equipment to truly meet the athlete’s specific needs or sport requirements.

With proper guidance, a surgeon who specializes in ACL repair, expert physical therapists and a professional strength & conditioning program, the post-surgical knee can be as effective as the knee prior to injury.

30% of athletes who suffer an ACL injury will suffer another one within two years of surgery.

A Unique Approach to Recovery

Olympia Fitness + Performance and Restore Physical Therapy are located in a 6,000 square foot gym facility. Together, the certified trainers and doctors of physical therapy work hand-in-hand to ensure your ACL program incorporates the fundamentals you need to return to your sport safely. We work together from the start in order to incorporate strength training earlier in the patient’s rehab which progresses them faster than a traditional rehab program.

Combining highly qualified Strength Coaches who are trained to increase an athlete’s performance with Doctors in Physical Therapy makes for a great team. Our coaches and therapists constantly test and re-test the athlete, then communicate with each other about progress and where their program needs to be tweaked to get the best results possible. It’s a match that guarantees success.

Restore Physical Therapy ACL Success Program

The Combination of Physical Therapy and Strength & Conditioning Decreases Risk of Re-injury or Other Problems:

• Re-injury to the ACL

• Lack of confidence in the surgical leg

• Poor movement mechanics

• Being dependent on their brace

• Insufficient strength and power needed to return to sport safely

Our Process to Get You Back into Action

1. Our team speaks directly to the athlete’s surgeon after discharge (as well as each step of the way).

2. The athlete begins with basic and simple Physical Therapy to initiate phase one of rehab, retaining full range of motion, basic strength, gait training, and functional movement like squatting, stair climbing and more.

3. We co-create a safe and progressive plan that begins the day after surgery and continues to the first day on the field and after.

4. As soon as our physical therapists deem it to be appropriate, the Strength & Conditioning Coaches quickly transition the athlete to beginner level sport specific exercises.

5. As the athlete progresses, the training progresses from intermediate to advanced. It will include things such as agility training, jumping mechanics, plyometrics, running, cutting mechanics, and more. Our program closes the gap in the continuum of care.

6. By the time the athlete is ready to return to their sport, their fitness will be at a level that will exceed where they were when they first suffered the injury.

7. After the athlete returns to their sport, they should continue strength & conditioning, and check in with their Physical Therapist to avoid being part of the two year reinjury statistic.

...The coordination of services involved communication between the physical therapist and strength trainers. This allowed for necessary changes in my program to be made as my rehabilitation progressed. For me, this was an ideal program and allowed me to successfully return to the soccer field and back to my overall active lifestyle feeling stronger than ever before.
